letter 21
Just read letter 21.I have been battling lately between a desire I have to embrace the truth that my life is not my own,(I know there is great freedom in this)and the often loud voice inside that screams MINE,MINE,MINE!!!!!!!!!!!Lewis uncovers the myth of ownership so well here.It reminds me of something I read in Romans about being a slave one way or another.I choose...but I don't get to be master.and I do know that is really good...but I still want to rule...though maybe someday I will see how disastrous that always turns out.

Great insights, ladies!
I'm reminded of the Prayer of St. Francis, which, paraphrased, reminds us that "it is in giving that we recieve, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
It is so very difficult to put our "selves" to death, but it is the only way that we can become authentically human. And, once we are there, we will not want to go back!! However, it is a leap of tremendous faith.
